Tips for trip

The ancient town of Stříbro was founded in the 12th century above the picturesque valley of the Mže River. It flourished most in the 16th century, when the pride of the square and the whole town was built – the Renaissance town hall with graphite decoration. The town centre has been declared an Urban Monument Reserve. Silver, however, offers not only historical monuments, but also rich sports activities, e.g. in the area of Hracholusky Dam or in recreational facilities in Butov and Vranov. The Friendship cycle route (part of the long-distance route Paris – Strasbourg – Prague) is also located in the area.
Annual public events are well attended, including the February Miners’ March by torchlight, torches and lanterns, a parade of amateur theatre groups, the June town festival, and the European Open Days, held annually in September.
